We are proud to announce the formation of the Van Zandt First Responder Fund. This non profit corporation has been established to meet unexpected needs of the first responder community in Van Zandt County and will be the primary charity supported by The Silver Spur Resort.

As we began the process of organizing our First Responders Day scheduled for May 12, it became apparent there was no appropriate and all encompassing fund to support the first responders of our community. The needs identified ranged from equipment to support of the families of first responders.

Our management reached out to local businesses to help sponsor our first event and the response was incredible. Not only did we quickly reach our goal for this event but to date we have raised an additional $3,500 to be deposited into this new fund.

Thank you to all who have made this possible and with the continued support of the community we can have a positive impact for our First Responders.

How to donate:

Thank you for your consideration to donate to the Van Zandt First Responder Fund!

Checks can be made out to ‘Van Zandt First Responders Fund’ and mailed to Silver Spur Resort 13785 State Hwy 19, Canton, TX 75103

First Responder’s Day at Silver Spur Resort

Silver Spur Resort was proud to host its 1st Annual First Responders Day on May 12, 2018. This family-friendly day was planned to celebrate our local first responders, as well as to raise money for our newly formed First Responders Fund. A fun day was had by all who attended!

First Responder Agencies and Demonstrations:

Agencies across Van Zandt County showed up at Silver Spur to participate in activities and demonstrations to our community. Demos included vehicle extraction (jaws of life), water safety, fire extinguisher training, and lots of great training and hand outs from various agencies including red cross, neighborhood watch, cert. Four K9 units were onsite demonstrating take down assistance in helping subdue a fleeing suspect. Spectators watched the Flight for life helicopter take off and land on the resort property, and several vehicles were on site for tours including armored vehicles, fire trucks and law enforcement vehicles.

Other activities included dunk a booth where you could dunk a judge, law enforcement, and firemen, a bounce house, and several raffles.

Thank you to the Canton Police Department, Van Zandt County Sheriff Department, Department of Public Safety State Troopers, local Game Wardens, Canton Fire Department, South Van Zandt Fire Department, C.E.R.T., Red Cross, Neighborhood watch, Wills Point Fire, Wills Point K9, Trinity Mother Frances Flight for Life for your participation and contribution to this event!
